Finding Employment as a Newcomer

June 22, 2016

Our panel of Engineering employers and recruiters share their advice on penetrating the Canadian job market as a newcomer.

Here is their advice for newcomers starting their job search in Canada:

  • Research and understand where your strengths, weaknesses and where your skills best fit into the Canadian economy.

  • Networking can be a valuable strategy for your job search.  Every interview and meeting should be considered as an opportunity to grow and learn.

  • Don’t be shy to showcase the skills you bring from another country. International experience and familiarity working in different cultural contexts can be a great asset to a company.
